Oval kilns are designed for large workloads and unusual shapes that do not fit in a cylindrical or square shape kiln. Olympic Oval models are built with 3” brick and have a 2″ blank brick row in the first section of the kiln to protect the elements when loading and unloading the kiln. Fires to Cone 10 on 41 Amps. Can be customised to suit lower amps & lower top temperatures (eg max Cone 6 on 36 Amps).

*Gases from clay and glazes cause ALL Type K TC's to oxidise and degrade with each firing. TC Protection tubes can mitigate spalling or flaking which produces fine black dust particles that fall beneath the TC. Vacuum kiln regularly to remove spall. Replacement Type K thermocouples are $116 and easy to install. We offer an alternative Type S Platinum TC which never degrades or sheds. Cost of Type S depends on the current price of Plantinum (Type S is around 9 x more expensive than Type K).
